2011-03-29Souper #23

Yesterday we had a souper with people who understand the new city, the existing city and the spontaneous city. Our guests were Michelle Provoost (International New Town Institute & Crimson), Jeroen Ruitenbeek (Palmbout Urban Landscapes) and Tess Broekmans (Urhahn Urban Design).
We heard that in Belgium work is fun. New towns are often designed by foreign designers who just do not know the context. Impulsive and urban growth in China may be accompanied by spontaneous urban development. It was a good and interesting conversation in restaurant Huson .
Daan Bakker (Daf-architecten), Jeroen de Willigen (DeZwarteHond), Jasper de Haan (architect) and I invite each month a number of colleagues to eat, drink and discuss about our profession, the city of Rotterdam and related matters.
